NBA Free Agent Rumors: Jamal Crawford May Be An Option For Indiana Pacers

The Indiana Pacers front office leaders met the media on Thursday, where team president Larry Bird warned against reading too much into trade or free agent speculation over the next couple of weeks.?

"Over the course of the next two or three weeks, you're going to hear a lot of rumors and there's going to be a lot of things out there that have us right in the middle of it," Bird said. "I wouldn't believe any of it."

What fun is that, Larry?

With the NBA's crazy free agent period set to begin on December 9th, the Pacers have open roster spots and cap space to spend, so several players are under consideration to join the team at this point. A new name among the free agent options emerged on Friday. Jamal Crawford is an intriguing player floated by Indy Star reporter Mike Wells. While there are?several other teams are interested?in Crawford,?Wells teased the masses with?this tweet?on Friday.

Interest btween Pacers and J Crawford is mutual. Crawford and G Hill 2gether in the backcourt w Granger for scoring options late n games.

Crawford would fit into the category of a veteran player GM David Morway said the Pacers would look to add. His game is criticized for being a volume shooter without offering much at the defensive end. The presence of Crawford would give the Pacers another scoring option in tight games since he is not afraid to take or make big shots which is something the Pacers could desperately use to help ease the burden on Danny Granger as the focal point at crunch time.

If all of the interest in Crawford from around the league is legit, the demand may quickly move the guard out of the salary range the Pacers are willing to pay.
