Houses Personal Finance Enough? - Mo' Money Mo' Houses

So last week, when I posted about how to eat like a fat kid and lose weight like a champ, I got a comment from Momma Grizzly?answering a question I had asked in my Yakezie challenge post?about the direction my blog?was going in. After blogging for over six months, I?was?concerned that my blog?was losing focus, or my posts weren?t interesting enough. Although my Alexa number has been nearing the 199,999?mark for some time, and my readership has grown significantly since I launched Mo? Money Mo? Houses in December, when I read about other bloggers? successes after only being up for a few months, I was?worried that maybe my blog?was missing something. I don?t have thousands of twitter followers, my Google Page Rank is still only at a 2, and I most certainly don?t make enough?revenue from my blog to?cover my?rent (or?even to cover lunch).

In Momma Grizzly?s comment, which I loved?because she was so honest and had some great suggestions,?she said she felt that my blog did lose a bit of focus since its inception. She felt that my recent posts were more about my life?instead of personal?finance, and I?ve got to agree with her, it has been. But I also think it?s been a pretty natural evolution too.

It?s not that I?m running out of personal finance topics to write about and I?ve all of a sudden switched this blog into more of a lifestyle blog. Lately, I?ve just been feeling a bit more willing to share more personal tidbits to all of you, and it sure is interesting that my more personal posts have received way more traffic than all of my ?How to Save Money? or ?Investing for Beginners? posts. And to be fair, I can honestly say that almost every one of my posts have focused on some aspect of money. Be it spending money on skin care to finding a cheap place for drinks,?money is still always the main focus. Of course there are a bunch of posts dedicated to the topic of blogging (like this one) and my post last Friday really had nothing to do with money, I just really wanted to share?the Fatabase?with all of you.

In the beginning, I definitely thought that this blog was going to be more of a blog that discussed what bonds were or what was a good age to start saving, and I definitely have written about those topics especially when I participated in Women?s Money Week. But like other personal finance bloggers that I know, I?m not an actual?expert on finance, I like to keep things fresh,?and although money plays a big role in my life, it?s not the only role.

So, in order to better reflect the direction I see my blog going in, I?ve officially changed my tagline to ?A personal finance & lifestyle blog?.?This doesn?t mean that anything?s going to change per se. The focus will always be on money: how to save it, how to invest it, how to make more of it, and of course, how best to spend it.

Do you think Mo? Money Mo? Houses is personal finance enough? What does personal finance mean to you?
